The Tooling Supervisor at Magna Engineered Glass is responsible for daily tool room operation, including the preventive maintenance of injection mold and stamping tooling. Will be responsible for manufacturing feasibility of molded and stamped product including prototype and supports pre-series builds. Supports manufacturing in the resolution of issues and provides manufacturing with technical support as needed. Work requires independent problem solving and decision making with general direction given on project objectives and broad guidance from corporate strategy and goals. Work is complex, difficult in character and requires strong technical and broad business knowledge in addition to project management skills. Functioning with full competency/mastery of work area, exercises considerable latitude in determining specific project objectives and approaches to assignments. Decisions may involve substantial risk to the organization with potential for long-lasting results.

  • Plans and schedules preventive maintenance, tool repairs, and production floor support activities related to tooling issues.
  • Oversees daily operations of Tooling personnel, including supervision, shift scheduling, timesheet management, and performance.
  • Provides ongoing technical support to manufacturing teams for timely resolution of tooling-related production issues.
  • Collaborates with Operations, Manufacturing Engineering, Industrial Engineering, and Tooling Engineering to ensure tooling designs align with internal customer requirements.
  • Offers both technical guidance and hands-on support in tooling maintenance and repair activities.
  • Promotes cross-training among team members to enhance departmental flexibility and operational efficiency.
  • Ensures all work is performed in full compliance with Magna and Magna Engineered Glass Division's Health, Safety, and Environmental (HSE) policies, as well as applicable federal, state, and local regulations. Immediately reports hazardous conditions or workplace injuries to the appropriate supervisor or HSE representative.
  • Promotes a safety-focused culture, encouraging employee involvement in health, safety, environmental, and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Perform additional duties as assigned to support departmental and organizational goals.
  • Actively contribute to a positive and collaborative work environment, demonstrating flexibility to adapt to evolving business needs and priorities.
  • Bachelor's degree in Engineering or related field, with a minimum of five (5) years of progressively responsible experience in tooling and machining. Full proficiency in the discipline is required. An equivalent combination of education/training may replace a formal degree.
  • Strong knowledge of current tooling and machining practices, with relevant experience in automotive stampings or the demonstrated ability to transfer applicable skills from related industries.
  • Broad understanding of manufacturing technologies, product applications, customer requirements, and program objectives.
  • Proven leadership in managing complex projects, with a demonstrated ability to independently execute long-term assignments requiring innovation and strategic thinking. Capable of developing technical plans aligned with future business growth and operational needs.
  • Strong analytical and problem-solving skills, with the ability to identify issues and implement effective solutions to support production and tooling operations.
  • Demonstrated ability to lead, mentor, and motivate team members, aligning performance with departmental objectives and organizational goals.
  • Proven track record of driving innovation and identifying new opportunities to support the organization's strategic growth and long-term success.
  • Demonstrated ability to work effectively in a team environment and independently.
  • Knowledge of safety standards and protocols in manufacturing environments.
  • English proficiency required, with strong verbal and written communication skills.
  • Bilingual (Spanish) preferred.
