About The Position

The Tooling Specialist at Jabil, Inc. is responsible for the design, development, maintenance, and repair of various molds, dies, and tooling essential for manufacturing processes, ensuring high-quality and efficient production.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent; Associate's degree or technical certification in Tool & Die Making, Machining, or a related field preferred.
  • Proven experience (typically 3+ years) in tooling design, fabrication, maintenance, and repair, preferably within a manufacturing environment.
  • Proficiency in CAD/CAM software (e.g., SolidWorks, AutoCAD, Mastercam) for tooling design and programming.
  • Strong understanding of various manufacturing processes, including injection molding, stamping, and machining.
  • Demonstrated ability to operate and program CNC machine tools (mills, lathes, grinders, EDM).
  • Solid knowledge of different tool steels, heat treatment processes, and material properties.
  • Excellent problem-solving skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings and blueprints.
  • Strong communication and interpersonal skills to collaborate effectively with cross-functional teams.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team in a fast-paced environment.
  • Physical ability to lift and move heavy tooling components and stand for extended periods.

Responsibilities

  • Design and develop new tooling, molds, and fixtures based on product specifications, engineering drawings, and manufacturing requirements, utilizing CAD/CAM software.
  • Perform preventative maintenance and scheduled inspections on existing tooling to ensure optimal performance and longevity.
  • Diagnose and troubleshoot tooling issues, implementing timely and effective repairs to minimize downtime and production interruptions.
  • Collaborate with engineering, production, and quality teams to optimize tooling designs for manufacturability, cost-effectiveness, and product quality.
  • Operate and program various machine tools, including CNC mills, lathes, grinders, and EDM machines, to fabricate and modify tooling components.
  • Select and recommend appropriate materials for tooling construction based on application requirements, material properties, and cost considerations.
  • Maintain accurate records of tooling designs, modifications, maintenance activities, and repair history.
  • Adhere to all safety regulations and company policies related to tooling operations and workshop practices.
  • Continuously seek opportunities for process improvement and innovation in tooling design and manufacturing.
  • Provide technical support and guidance to production operators regarding tooling usage and care.
