About The Position

ROLE:                          Responsible for leading activities to repair Genpak tooling and to machine parts in support of those repairs for immediate use or for part inventory, working to maintain accurate and up-to-date work orders, and coaching tooling shop hourly employees in these processes to achieve a high standard of tooling repair and part manufacture. Appropriately communicate information clearly and accurately whether by emails, reports, or meetings.

  • Thorough understanding of proper machining practices.
  • Demonstrates understanding of resource availability and capabilities.
  • Minimum five years of manual and CNC machining.
  • High School diploma or GED.
  • Knowledge of PC and Network based software including Word Processing and Spreadsheet applications
  • Good understanding of mechanical principles and applications
  • Communicate effectively both verbally and in writing
  • Visually read various postings, bulletin boards, and computer monitors/screens
  • Heed safety warnings, devices and alarms
  • Possess adequate ability to do problem solving and establish cause and effect relationships in an office and/or manufacturing environment

Nice To Haves

  • Supervising or Leadership experience preferred.
  • Good understanding of trim tool repair procedures preferred
  • Good understanding of mold repair procedures preferred
  • Knowledge of the Plastics Industry preferred

Responsibilities

  • Oversee and train the tooling shop hourly personnel
  • Monitor all tooling repair and project progressions
  • Complete hourly employee reviews and disciplinary actions
  • Assist the Tooling Manager and Tooling Engineer with evaluating tooling for rebuild and/or modification
  • Work closely with Engineering to ensure proper design intent in manufacturing of parts or tooling modification
  • Communicate with Corporate scheduling about job progressions and project deadlines when needed
  • Manage tooling repair schedules and work with corporate planning to schedule tooling repair
  • Manage machining schedules and prioritize them according to business needs
  • Assist the Tooling Manager with project quotations and completion date projections
  • Assist in optimizing tooling repair and machining procedures
  • Initiate and perform root cause analysis and implement corrective action to drive performance gains.
