About The Position

We are seeking a detail-oriented Tooling & Engineering Document Specialist to lead the organization of our physical manufacturing assets and the integrity of our digital engineering data. You will be responsible for performing a full-scale inventory of manufacturing tooling, updating technical drawings, and ensuring our GSI system remains the "single source of truth" for production. The ideal candidate enjoys a mix of hands-on work in a manufacturing environment and technical data management.

  • Experience: Proven background in a manufacturing environment with a solid understanding of production tooling.
  • Technical Proficiency: Hands-on experience with CAD software (SolidWorks, AutoCAD, or CatiaV5) for basic drafting.
  • Familiarity with ERP/MRP systems (GSI experience is a significant plus).
  • Blueprint Literacy: Strong ability to read and interpret complex engineering drawings, BOMs, and routings.
  • Soft Skills: High attention to detail, exceptional organizational skills, and the ability to communicate effectively across shop floor and office teams.
  • Accuracy: Maintain a "zero-error" mindset for data entry and document handling.
  • Timeliness: Execute tasks within defined project timelines to support production schedules.
  • Compliance: Adhere strictly to all internal quality, safety, and document control standards.

Responsibilities

  • Inventory: Perform a comprehensive audit of all fixtures, dies, gauges, jigs, and specialty tools.
  • Systemization: Establish a structured storage and labeling system with a reliable tracking methodology.
  • Data Integrity: Record attributes including part associations, condition, calibration needs, and usage history.
  • Process Improvement: Implement a robust check-in/check-out system to ensure tool availability and accountability.
  • Technical Review: Verify engineering drawings for accuracy and alignment with current production reality.
  • Drafting Support: Perform minor updates in CAD (SolidWorks/AutoCAD), including annotation changes and revision adjustments.
  • Archiving: Ensure document control procedures are followed, archiving obsolete drawings and maintaining a clean digital library.
  • Data Entry: Maintain accurate item data, tooling records, and metadata within the GSI system.
  • Linking: Map drawings and tooling to the correct Part Numbers and Bills of Materials (BOMs).
  • Auditing: Identify and correct inconsistencies or gaps in the database to ensure high data quality.
