About The Position

The Tooling Engineer is responsible to ensure new tooling is implemented properly and current tooling is operating efficiently and meeting customer demands.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED
  • Ability to communicate well
  • Must have computer skills
  • Must have good organizational skills
  • Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions
  • Advanced knowledge in geometrical dimensioning and tolerancing
  • Ability to lift 40 pounds without accommodation
  • Ability to stand, walk, crawl, reach and climb.

Nice To Haves

  • Preferably two – four year degree in Tooling Design or 4 years related job experience
  • Certificate of completion of Tool and Die Apprenticeship and 8-D training
  • Working knowledge of the following: Design of Experiment training, Analysis or motion/Ergonomics, SPC training, Mistake Proofing/Poke-Yoke, and Quality Operating Systems
  • Auto CAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Responsible for all aspects of engineering for prototypes, preproduction, production on specific programs
  • Review, evaluate and approve all designs and concepts of production tooling
  • Communicate to Customer, Production, Quality, Purchasing and Management on all program concerns
  • Familiar with customer specific requirements
  • Actively implement and track all customer changes and cost reductions
  • Follow and support Magna Body & Chassis Iowa and Magna’s operating principles
  • Support efforts to achieve department and plant goals on Employee Opinion Survey
