In this role, you will manage tooling creation and design, as well as enhance existing designs for tools used in the manufacturing process. You will collaborate with internal stakeholders, with a focus on continuous improvement, ensuring a strong tooling program is in place for Operations.

  • Design 2D / 3D extrusion tooling and CAD models to be used by the Toolroom.
  • Use of CAD software, such as AutoCad, Solidworks or Inventor.
  • Read and create blueprints to be used in the Toolroom and production per ASME Y14.5-2009.
  • Use of Computational Fluid Dynamics simulation software (CFD) to assist in die design.
  • Initiate and file Tooling Introduction paperwork to be used by the Toolroom.
  • Construct BOMs for tool builds and procure steel to be used.
  • Assist in analysis of extrusion tool related issues and recommend solutions.
  • Work from existing drawings / sketches to create models.
  • Utilize measuring tools, such as calipers, micrometers, comparators, etc.
  • Thorough knowledge of drafting techniques and engineering terminology.
  • Maintain proper housekeeping and safety standards, making proper use of PPE, as required.
  • Degree in Drafting & Design, Engineering or similar discipline.
  • 3+ years experience in CAD or AutoCAD software.
  • Extrusion knowledge, a plus.
  • Prior knowledge of CFD simulation software and its use.
