About The Position

A Tooling Design Engineer designs, develops, and maintains manufacturing tools like dies, molds, jigs, and fixtures using CAD software to boost production efficiency, quality, and cost-effectiveness, collaborating with engineering, production, and quality teams to troubleshoot issues, create blueprints, manage prototypes, and ensure processes meet specs. Key duties include designing new tools, modifying existing ones, conducting feasibility studies, overseeing fabrication, and providing technical support for tooling issues.

Requirements

  • CAD Software: Proficiency in tools like SolidWorks, Creo, or NX
  • Manufacturing Processes: Deep understanding of machining, metalworking, composites, and related fabrication equipment
  • Technical Drawing: Ability to read and create complex blueprints and schematics
  • Problem-Solving: Strong analytical skills for complex problem-solving
  • Communication: Excellent written and verbal communication for team coordination and reporting

Responsibilities

  • Design & Development: Create detailed CAD models and blueprints for new tooling, fixtures, and molds
  • Process Improvement: Analyze current manufacturing processes and tooling to identify bottlenecks and implement enhancements for better efficiency and cost reduction
  • Collaboration: Work closely with design, production, quality, and management teams to align tooling with product requirements
  • Troubleshooting: Diagnose and resolve tooling-related problems on the production floor
  • Project Management: Manage tooling projects from concept to implementation, potentially including vendor management and procurement
  • Quality Assurance: Ensure tooling meets quality standards and supports consistent product output
