Your Role at Baxter This is where my hands make life-sustaining products As a Tool Technician , you’re responsible for keeping all dies, fixtures, and tools in good working condition so production can run smoothly. You’ll handle daily maintenance and repairs, build new tooling when needed, and support production by solving tooling and machining issues quickly and accurately. Your Team Located in the rolling hills of Southeastern Indiana , Baxter’s Batesville facility is more than a workplace—it’s a community. You’ll work as part of a collaborative manufacturing support team , partnering closely with production operators, engineers, and continuous improvement teams. Your role is hands‑on and highly visible—when tooling issues arise, your expertise helps keep operations moving safely and efficiently. The team values problem‑solving, clear communication, and supporting one another to meet daily production and quality goals.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • At least 2 years of experience building tools and dies
  • Knowledge of toolmaking, machining processes, and CNC equipment
  • Ability to use and maintain machines and tools safely and effectively
  • Strong math skills and mechanical problem‑solving ability
  • Comfortable using computers for basic word processing and spreadsheets
  • Ability to read and understand blueprints and technical drawings
  • Good judgment, attention to detail, and clear communication skills
  • Ability to identify problems and recommend effective solutions
  • Applicants must be authorized to work for an employer in the U.S.

Nice To Haves

  • 18–24 months of vocational training in tool and die making preferred.

Responsibilities

  • Build new tools, dies, fixtures, and parts using blueprints, sketches, reference parts, or instructions
  • Measure and inspect finished parts to ensure they meet specifications, using tools like calipers, micrometers, gauge blocks, and dial indicators
  • Set up and operate manual and CNC equipment, including lathes, mills, grinders, welders, and drill presses
  • Perform preventive maintenance on tools and dies to keep them production‑ready
  • Assemble, fit, modify, and repair tooling, fixtures, and dies
  • Respond to tooling issues and support production with timely, accurate solutions
  • Work directly with production teams to troubleshoot and resolve tooling problems
  • Modify tooling and weld fixtures as needed
  • Support 5S, continuous improvement (CI), and safety projects
  • Help maintain a clean, organized, and safe work area
