We’re hiring a Tool Technician at our Corporate Headquarters in Columbia, MO , and we’re looking for someone who’s ready to grow with us, bring energy and drive to their work, and help us build the future of construction. As a Tool Technician, you’ll use our tech to create, assign, and monitor work orders, track machine service intervals, order parts, and diagnose issues faster by pulling data from hundreds of makes and models. With real-time information at your fingertips, you can determine the root cause and corrective action for each issue quickly, enabling you to work smarter, not harder. Schedule: Monday to Friday, 7:00 AM to 5:00 PM, and offers overtime pay after working 40 hours. (On call during the weekend only in special circumstances)

Requirements

  • Strong mechanical aptitude — ability to troubleshoot, repair, and maintain a wide range of small equipment and tools
  • Competence using hand and power tools, with a working knowledge of schematics and equipment diagrams
  • Ability to diagnose issues efficiently using technology such as laptops, tablets, and mobile apps (Microsoft D365, T3, diagnostic platforms)
  • Comfortable working independently or under limited supervision with a high degree of accountability
  • Strong organizational and documentation skills — must complete work orders thoroughly and on time
  • Professional communication skills — must interact with technicians, supervisors, and vendors as needed
  • Awareness of OSHA standards and best practices in a warehouse/distribution setting (preferred)
  • Basic computer literacy — ability to navigate WMS, ERP, or maintenance software confidently
  • High school diploma or equivalent required
  • Valid driver’s license (state-issued, current, and in good standing)
  • At least 2 years of previous experience in tool repair, small engine maintenance, or general mechanical work preferred
  • Construction, rental, or warehouse operations experience is a plus
  • Familiarity with working in a distribution center or logistics environment is helpful
  • Willingness to attend OEM or EquipmentShare-provided training and certifications regularly (company-paid)
  • Must be able to lift and carry up to 50 pounds safely and repeatedly
  • Must be able to stand, stoop, bend, crouch, and move freely throughout a full shift
  • Ability to work in environments with temperature variation depending on season
  • Must be able to safely operate and work around PIT (Powered Industrial Trucks) and other heavy equipment
  • May be required to work on equipment in elevated positions or tight spaces — physical dexterity and awareness are key
  • This is a safety-sensitive role — candidate must pass a 10-panel drug screen as a condition of employment

Nice To Haves

  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA requirements (preferred)
  • Awareness of OSHA standards and best practices in a warehouse/distribution setting (preferred)

Responsibilities

  • Practice safe job practices for repairing equipment
  • Use technology (laptops, tablets, and mobile phone) comfortably
  • Perform repairs and preventative maintenance on a variety of rental and customer equipment and tools (pneumatic tools, material lifts, chain hoists, core drills, welders, pipe threaders, small engines) under the supervision of higher-tier technicians and while using a high degree of independent judgment
  • Maintain paperwork/electronic documentation of work performed (work orders) in a complete and timely manner on a daily basis
  • Assist with pick-up and delivery of equipment & parts
  • Be knowledgeable of OSHA requirements (preferred)
  • Participate in OEM and internal training programs throughout the year
  • Maintain proper documentation and communicate part needs or delays
  • Take pride in maintaining a clean, organized, and safe workspace
  • Other duties, assigned as needed - flexibility and teamwork are essential in a growing network
