About The Position

The Tool Room & Press Room Supervisor oversees all activities in the Tool Room and Press Room, including supervision of die makers, machinists, and production personnel. This role ensures efficient tooling operations, effective workflow coordination, and strong collaboration with engineering and production to meet manufacturing goals. Pay Rate: $61,152-$91,728

Requirements

  • High school diploma or equivalent required.
  • 8 years Tool Room experience, with at least 2–3 years as a Tool & Die Maker or in a supervisory role.
  • Strong knowledge of mechanical manufacturing processes, inspection methods, and geometric dimensioning and tolerancing.
  • Proficient in hard gaging, coordinate measuring machines (CMM), and comparators.
  • Basic computer skills and strong math knowledge.
  • Mechanical aptitude and basic metallurgy understanding.
  • Supervisory experience, including the ability to delegate work and manage priorities, time, and workflow.
  • Ability to make decisions in crisis situations.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

  • Supervise and coordinate work of die makers, machinists, tool repair personnel, CNC programmers, tool crib attendants, and production staff.
  • Direct new tool builds, maintenance, and spare component production.
  • Set production priorities and manage workflow between departments.
  • Maintain and improve tool room efficiency, including personnel training and adherence to safety standards.
  • Collaborate with engineering on tool design/redesign and attend related meetings.
  • Review and verify tooling prints and route Engineering Change Requests (ECRs).
  • Coordinate external services such as coatings, heat treatment, and overload subcontracting.
  • Assist with production setups and monitor raw material inventory.
  • Review die records to identify potential problems; schedule and assign preventative maintenance.
  • Address quality non-conformances and schedule work hours in e-Time system.
  • Monitor production efficiency, investigate downtime causes, and implement solutions.
  • Operate or test equipment when necessary to validate accuracy and performance.
