The Tool Room Attendant keeps our tool room running smoothly—organized, stocked, safe, and efficient—so instructors, staff, and students have timely access to the tools and consumables they need. Requirements

  • Punctuality, attention to detail, and strong organizational skills.
  • Capable of independently operating inventory software (WASP) within 2 weeks of start.
  • Prior knowledge of the welding industry and tools.
  • Comfortable with basic computer tasks; able to learn internal systems quickly.

Nice To Haves

  • Experience in a tool crib/tool room, stockroom, or warehouse environment.
  • Familiarity with 5S, Lean, or similar operational standards.
  • Basic knowledge of PPE requirements and consumable categories for welding.

Responsibilities

  • Issue and receive tools and confirm all related items are returned (cables, adaptors, power supplies, keys, cords, etc.)
  • Maintain accurate check-in/check-out logs for staff and students
  • Label, tag, or engrave tools as needed to support accountability and tracking
  • Inspect tools routinely for wear or defects and help initiate replacements
  • Complete and document regular inventory counts of tools and consumables
  • Keep consumables stocked and communicate low inventory needs to your supervisor
  • Support purchasing needs, including negotiating pricing for inventory and student consumables
  • Receive deliveries, unpack shipments, and organize new equipment and parts
  • Partner with the Repair Cycle Specialist (RCS) to maintain appropriate stock levels and ordering cadence
  • Keep the tool room clean, organized, and efficient so teams can access what they need quickly
  • Follow tool control practices, FOD prevention, and hazardous material procedures in alignment with MSDS and applicable requirements
  • Maintain waste removal routines and ensure proper disposal of hazardous materials
  • Assemble, evaluate, tear down, and perform minor repairs/maintenance on tools and equipment
  • Package and mail orders, including support for e-commerce fulfillment and sales needs
  • Build custom student tool kits as needed
  • Track weekly tool room metrics and assist other departments as assigned
  • Follow relevant manuals, technical data, safety regulations, and directives while completing daily work
