About The Position

The Tool Room Specialist is essential to maintaining the precision and performance of tooling used in high-speed can manufacturing. This role focuses on machining, repairing, and optimizing tooling, dies, and fixtures to ensure consistent production quality and minimal downtime.

Requirements

High school diploma or equivalent (required)
Minimum of 2 years of experience in a manufacturing environment (high-speed production preferred)
Proven experience operating machine shop equipment and precision measuring tools
Strong knowledge of machining ferrous, non-ferrous, and composite materials
Ability to read and interpret blueprints, schematics, and technical specifications
Experience with CNC programming, OD/ID grinding, and jig grinding
Solid understanding of tooling repair, fabrication, and rebuild processes
Detail-oriented with strong problem-solving abilities
Effective communicator and team collaborator
Flexible and able to work varying shifts, overtime, and weekends as needed

Nice To Haves

Technical or vocational training in Tool & Die, Machining, or a related field (preferred)

Responsibilities

Perform advanced machining and tool room operations using a variety of materials and techniques
Repair, modify, and fabricate tooling components, including dies and replacement parts
Operate manual and CNC equipment such as lathes, mills, and grinders
Support tooling refurbishment and precision part production
Use precision measuring tools (micrometers, calipers, gauges) to ensure exact tolerances
Inspect finished components to verify quality and compliance with specifications
Maintain tooling inventories and prepare tool sets for production use
Interpret blueprints, sketches, and technical drawings to plan machining processes
Collaborate with production and maintenance teams to resolve tooling and equipment issues
Analyze root causes of tooling failures and implement corrective solutions
Participate in equipment rebuilds and tooling upgrades
Recommend process improvements to enhance efficiency, extend tool life, and reduce downtime
Maintain a clean, organized, and safe workshop environment
