About The Position

The Tool Maker position at Heico Companies involves managing the design and development of new or existing products, overseeing tool startups and manufacturing projects, and ensuring compliance with safety standards. Requirements

  • BS degree in Plastics Engineering, Plastics or Polymer Science or 8 years of equivalent work experience.
  • 7-10 years minimum experience in cavitation molding of precision small parts; specific experience in compression and injection molding is preferred.
  • Computer proficiency in 3D and 2D CAD, Microsoft Office & AS400-MAPICS software.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Knowledge of plastic processing and plastic materials.
  • Knowledge of tool design and molding principles.

Nice To Haves

  • Bilingual skills in Spanish and English are a plus.

Responsibilities

  • Manage design and development of new or existing products.
  • Oversee tool startups, validation, and manufacturing projects; maintain documentation for molds, procurement, and qualifications.
  • Lead tool design, development standards, and source selection for mold modifications.
  • Organize and update pins and molds; implement new product designs, processes, installations, and upgrades.
  • Set up, calibrate, maintain, program, and operate machining equipment; perform TIG, MIG, and Stick welding.
  • Read blueprints and GD&T symbols; compute dimensions, measure workpieces; verify product accuracy with precision instruments; troubleshoot and debug equipment.
  • Participate in process improvement; cross-train in complementary skills; ensure safety compliance and proper use of PPE.
  • Perform preventative maintenance; make and repair jigs, fixtures, and tooling; maintain tool room equipment.
  • Operate and program CNC machines; interpret and edit code; use CAM software; provide technical support and training.
  • Update supervisors and sales teams on projects; collaborate with departments for quality and process improvements; confer with tool vendors on P.O.'s and progress.
