Job summary: The tool grinder is responsible for receiving tooling drawings, developing the cutting tool specified, by utilizing various pieces of grinding equipment in order to produce a finished tool that will be used in machining operations. This person is also responsible for inspecting finished tools to verify they meet the specification prior to releasing to manufacturing. Tool crib attendant portion of responsibilities is to store and retrieve various tooling required for manufacturing while maintaining traceability of release and receiving them.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED or equivalent experience
  • Some training in shop math and blueprint reading is required
  • 2 – 5 years’ experience in tool grinding preferred
  • This position requires U.S. Person status as defined by applicable law for authorized access to data controlled under the International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR). A U.S. Person includes U.S. Citizens, U.S. Nationals, lawful permanent residents, and workers granted refugee or asylum status in the United States.

Responsibilities

  • Operating manual grinding machines to grind and sharpen production tooling to print specifications and quality standards in accordance with company schedules, policies and procedures in support of manufacturing requirements and customer orders.
  • Operate all tools for grinding, deburring, sanding and polishing.
  • Provide and adapt various complex cutting tooling and fixtures to complete machining assignments for various production and support areas.
  • Set up and operate manual O.D. grinders and surface grinders.
  • Sets up and operates any type of machine tool common to the trade, adjusting stops, feeds, speeds, and indexing or tapering attachments.
  • Build, assemble and repair cutting tools, utilizing holders, collets and related componentry or hardware.
