About The Position

Anchor Fabrication in LaVergne, Tn is looking for a Tool & Die Technician for our 2nd shift working 2:30 pm-11 pm Monday- Friday, with the ability to work overtime on weekends. The Tool & Die Technician will analyze specifications, lay out metal stock, set up and operate machine tools, and fit and assemble parts to fabricate and repair metalworking dies, cutting tools, jigs and fixtures, gauges, and machinists’ hand tools. Essential job duties and responsibilities: Repairs, constructs, alters or maintains jigs die, fixtures, gauges machine components and other tooling in conjunction with the Engineering department Sets up and operates equipment such as lathes, milling machines and grinders to machine parts and prototypes. Verifies conformance of machined parts to drawings and specifications Provides technical assistance to other Tool & Die Makers, Machinist and Press personnel on more difficult operations and set-ups Works with Engineering to repair process machines and tool dies Work with Engineering to repair and maintain specialized machines and hand tools used to meet production requirements Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions, and visualizes the product to determine materials required and machines to be used to fabricate parts Computes dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations. Measures, marks, and scribes metal stock for machining Sets up and operates machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, shapers, and grinders, to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances Examines standard or previously used dies, tools, and jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modifications regarding construction and function of part Develops specifications from general descriptions for specialty tools and draws or sketches design of product

Requirements

  • Computer literate
  • Able to read all precision measuring instruments
  • Ability to read and interpret specifications
  • A high school diploma or equivalent, along with:
  • Three (3) to five (5) years Tool & Die experience
