About The Position

The position requires a willingness to work as a team player to complete tasks under the supervision of senior technicians. The role involves disassembling and reassembling single-plane and multi-plane core dies, understanding troubleshooting of tooling issues, and assisting with the execution of job functions such as setting up machine tools and cleaning tooling and machines. Candidates must have the flexibility to work any shift and any day, as the position requires overtime and standard work hours on weekdays as well as weekends.

Requirements

  • High school diploma or GED equivalent from an accredited institution
  • Willingness to complete TCAT or another vocational approved equivalent to obtain Certification
  • Basic machining/shop equipment knowledge and skills preferred
  • Welding preferred
  • Basic understanding of hydraulics and pneumatics
  • Experience running an overhead crane, mobile equipment, and V stacker

Responsibilities

  • Maintain a high attendance record
  • Self-starter who performs work safely and efficiently to complete tasks
  • Preventive maintenance of single-plane and multi-plane core dies
  • Monitor die wear and shot history
  • Perform minor repairs on core dies and DME
  • Alert Engineers/Tool Room Supervision of any die repair/rework needed
  • Abide by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness in and out of the plant
  • Obtain a good selection of hand tools as well as basic machinist tools
  • Analyze die, fixture, and gauge problems and offer solutions
  • Use all tool room inspection equipment for die and fixture inspection
  • Perform moderate machining per instructions
  • Begin training in minor bench repairs and the 2nd End of Run process under the direction of senior techs
  • Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition
  • Obtain and utilize in-depth knowledge of basic tooling
  • Perform other duties as required such as packaging of tooling for shipment
  • Attend training functions, possibly including after work study and/or travel to obtain technology updates
