About The Position

The position requires a High School Graduate or GED with a minimum of Journeyman tool maker experience or 5 years' experience in the trade. The role involves operating all tool room machinery and inspection equipment, and performing various tasks related to the manufacturing and repair of tools and dies.

Requirements

• High School Graduate or GED.
• Minimum of Journeyman tool maker experience or 5 years' experience in the trade.
• In-depth knowledge of both basic and complex tooling.
• Good ability to comprehend written and verbal instructions and communicate well in written form.
• Ability to lift up to 25 lbs.
• Ability to work independently.

Responsibilities

• Disassemble, repair, and reassemble both multi-plane and single plane core dies of various sizes.
• Manufacture fixtures and gauges with some complexity.
• Perform all responsibilities of B and C technicians.
• Abide by plant safety rules and promote safety awareness in and out of the plant.
• Maintain a good selection of hand tools, machinist tools, and special tools as needed.
• Perform setups and machine complex parts, fixtures, and gauges to engineer specifications.
• Analyze die, fixture, and gauge problems and offer solutions.
• Set up and sharpen drills, tool bits, and contour cutters as required.
• Use all tool room inspection equipment for die and fixture inspection.
• Repair damaged dies, fixtures, and gauges per work orders, in conformance to engineers' instructions.
• Manufacture fixtures, gauges, and setter tooling from sketches, diagrams, and/or blueprints.
• Assist in training tool room apprentices, technicians, and new tool room employees.
• Attend training functions, possibly including after work study to obtain technology updates.
• Maintain work area in a clean, orderly, and safe condition.
• Train others in the above areas.
• Perform other duties as required.
• Maintain a high attendance record.
