About The Position

The Tool & Die Supervisor is a hands-on, working supervisor responsible for leading a team while actively participating in the construction, maintenance, modification, and calibration of machine shop tools, dies, jigs, fixtures, molds, and prototypes. This role oversees machining operations (lathes, mills, grinders, boring machines) and performs high-level tool development to ensure quality, efficiency, and on-time delivery.

Requirements

  • 8–12+ years of experience in tool & die, machining, or precision manufacturing.
  • 2–5+ years of supervisory or lead experience in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong hands-on experience with machining equipment and tooling processes.
  • Proven ability to work as a working supervisor, balancing leadership and direct production work.
  • Solid problem-solving, organizational, and communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Lead, train, and support tool & die makers while working alongside the team on complex builds and repairs.
  • Oversee tooling and die design, development, and production in collaboration with engineering.
  • Coordinate maintenance, repair, and preventive maintenance programs.
  • Plan and prioritize workflow to meet production schedules.
  • Ensure tooling meets quality standards through inspection and testing.
  • Troubleshoot and resolve production or tooling issues.
  • Monitor costs and drive process improvements.
  • Maintain accurate documentation of tooling and processes.
  • Manage tooling inventory and support material procurement.
  • Enforce safety standards and promote a strong safety culture.
  • Collaborate cross-functionally with production, quality, and engineering teams.
