About The Position

Provide support to manufacturing through the fabrication and maintenance of tooling, fixtures, gauges and dies on a timely basis while maximizing safety, efficiency and cost effectiveness. Operate conventional machine tools and equipment to produce tools and die components.

Requirements

  • Graduate of a technical school with a journeyman’s rating as tool & die maker or equivalent.
  • Knowledge of metal forming.
  • Knowledge of good machine maintenance practices
  • Excellent print reading skills
  • Familiar with GD&T tolerances as listed on manufacturing prints and interpreting same.
  • Knowledge of ISO 9000/TS 16949 operating practices
  • Skilled in operating shop std. machine tools such as vertical/ horizontal mills, radial drills, lathes, Bridgeport mills, etc.
  • High School education
  • (8) years’ experience in a tool and die shop environment working with machine operation experience.
  • Capable to operate shop machine tools such as vertical/ horizontal mills, radial drills, lathes, Bridgeport mills, etc.

Responsibilities

  • Troubleshoot and analyze tool and die problems for corrections and improvements and implement recommendation.
  • Ensure that all tools and dies are maintained according to schedule and that repairs are completed expeditiously.
  • Perform necessary housekeeping duties, as instructed, to ensure a safe and clean working area.
  • Respond to tool and die concerns from the production area.
  • Provide suggestions related to continual process improvement in all areas of responsibility.
  • Continuously and immediately inform management of all equipment malfunctions, production, quality or safety issues.
  • Provide technical assistance for machining and assembly methods and sequence of operations for production parts.
  • Bridgeport and peripheral shop equipment such as grinders, lathes and Bridgeport machines to produce tooling components.
  • Capable to assemble tools, fixtures and dies form assembly drawings.
  • Perform production machining to specifications, as required.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by the supervisor of first run operations.
