Requirements

  • AA degree in related field or High School diploma or General Education Degree (GED) required.
  • Completion of a craft apprenticeship, or a minimum of 5 years of related experience and/or training.
  • Ability to read and interpret blueprints or other job specifications.
  • Ability to make all inspections on machined parts using precision measuring equipment.
  • Basic knowledge of mainframe computer systems and familiarity with Spreadsheet and Word Processing software.
  • Ability to read a limited number of two and three syllable words and to recognize similarities and differences between words and series of numbers.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply and divide in all units of measure using whole numbers, common fractions and decimals.
  • Ability to apply common sense understanding to carry out instructions furnished in written, oral or diagram form.

Responsibilities

  • Manufactures tool and dies for various production machines.
  • Analyzes specifications, lays out metal stock, sets up and operates machine tools, and fits and assembles parts to make and repair dies, cutting tools, jigs, fixtures, gauges, and machinists' hand tools.
  • Troubleshoots problems on production machines and repairs all types of stamping dies when necessary.
  • Plans the sequence of operations, fabricates and assembles all types and sizes of tools and dies from tool design and engineering information.
  • Sets up and operates a variety of machines such as the milling machine, lathe, surface grinder, jig bore in fabrication of tools and dies.
  • Fabricates and assembles all types of sizes of tools and dies of irregular contours such as progressive dies, and compound dies.
  • Operates machine tools in fabrication of tools and dies as required.
  • Verifies dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications using measuring instruments.
  • Studies blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies.
  • Recognizes cosmetic non-conformances based on Company specifications and initiates action to prevent non-conformance.
  • Follows all 5S department procedures including keeping floors clean, returning tools to proper locations, and performing other housekeeping duties.
  • Attends all required job related training (internal and external).
  • Complies with the rules and regulations set forth by Federal, Local, and State government, LISI Aerospace, and HSE Procedures.
  • Seeks opportunities to improve HSE performance by establishing objectives and targets, measuring progress, and reporting results.
