Our Optical Communications segment has recently evolved from being a manufacturer of optical fiber and cable, hardware and equipment to being a comprehensive provider of industry-leading optical solutions across the broader communications industry. This segment is classified into two main product groupings - carrier network and enterprise network. The purpose of this new position is to produce the required part(s) from the prescribed materials with the requirements of specified drawings in a timely manner, meeting customer requirements whether internal or external every time.

Requirements

  • Diploma/certificate from an accepted and approved technical institution or successful completion of an approved apprenticeship program or equivalent experience.
  • 3-5 years in machining experience preferred.
  • Excellent manual and CNC skills with the ability to use Algebra, Trigonometry, and Advanced Geometry.
  • Strong oral and written communication skills.

Responsibilities

  • Operate, code and incorporate the HAAS VF-2 Mill into workflow.
  • Read and understand part drawings, setup and program a Haas CNC milling machine from the machine's control panel.
  • Flat grind, setup and operate EDM Drilling equipment, manual mill, manual lathe, horizontal band saw.
  • Begin design of machined jaws and minor fixtures.
  • Program CNC's and G&M-Code.
  • Use the Machinery's Handbook to find speeds and feeds and dimensions for threads and other machining operations.
  • Set up sine plates for complex angle setups.
  • Setup parts for machining to ensure timely and effective production.
  • Perform close tolerance quality work in difficult and diversified conditions.
  • Use and maintain manual measuring equipment to maintain tolerances.
  • Have intermediate knowledge of geometric dimensioning and tolerances.
  • Maintain machining equipment and service it according to the service manual.
  • Maintain housekeeping and organization efforts.
  • Assist Engineering in design and materials specifications to improve efficiency and productivity.
