About The Position

The Tool & Die Maker I position involves fabricating and/or repairing precision carbide and steel tooling (dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.) for the manufacture of aircraft quality fasteners. This role requires the use of automatic and manual machines, cutting apparatuses, and precision measuring devices. The position is full-time and operates on the 2nd shift from 1:30 PM to 10:00 PM.

Requirements

• High school diploma or general education degree (GED).
• A minimum of 1-2 years' experience in fabricating aircraft quality fastener tooling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.
• Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
• Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals.
• Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent, and apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
• Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists.

Responsibilities

• Study specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines required to fabricate part.
• Compute dimensions, plan layout, and determine assembly method and sequence of operations.
• Measure, make, and scribe metal stock for machining.
• Set up and operate equipment such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts, and verify conformance of machined parts to specifications.
• Examine standard to previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommend design modification regarding construction and function of part.
• Meet and maintain productivity levels and quality requirements in support of departmental standards, goals and schedules.
• Perform record keeping, housekeeping, and follow safety regulations.
• Other duties as assigned.
