About The Position

The machinist is responsible for programming, setup and operating the Haas equipment to meet engineering and production schedules. Hours: 5:00 am - 1:30 PM - Shifts between Monday - Thursday & Monday - Friday for 32-40 hour weeks.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma required, associated studies desired.
  • Qualified formal tool/die apprenticeship.
  • Proficiency in mathematics through trigonometry.
  • Effective communicative, writing, and mathematical skills.
  • Ingenuity, logic, job planning, coordination and troubleshooting abilities.
  • Also has the ability to work without supervision and make accurate judgment calls.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings
  • Background with Fanuc, HAAS and or Hurco controls a must
  • Must have previous experience with small parts
  • Proficient understanding of CNC processes and G code required
  • Must be able to work overtime, including weekends
  • Must be physically capable of standing/bending /stooping/griping 8+ hour shift(s)
  • Must lift up to 30 lbs. without assistance. Anything over 30 lbs. will be a team lift.
  • Must be able to work in non-climate, non-dust-controlled areas
  • Must be able to wear required safety equipment

Nice To Haves

  • CNC machine tool experience or related courses is plus.

Responsibilities

  • Plans machining by studying work orders, blueprints, engineering plans, materials, specifications, orthographic drawings, reference planes, locations of surfaces, and machining parameters; interpreting geometric dimensions and tolerances (GD&T).
  • Plans stock inventory by checking stock to determine amount available; anticipating needed stock.
  • Loads feed mechanism by lifting stock into position.
  • Verifies settings by measuring positions, first-run part, and sample workpieces; adhering to international standards.
  • Maintains specifications by observing drilling, grooving, and cutting, including turning, facing, knurling and thread chasing operations; taking measurements; detecting malfunctions; troubleshooting processes; adjusting and reprogramming controls; sharpening and replacing worn tools; adhering to quality assurance procedures and processes.
  • Maintains safe operations by adhering to safety procedures and regulations.
  • Maintains equipment by completing preventive maintenance requirements; following manufacturer's instructions; troubleshooting malfunctions.
  • Maintains continuity among work shifts by documenting and communicating actions, irregularities, and continuing needs.
  • Documents actions by completing production labor reporting.
  • Updates job knowledge by participating in educational opportunities; reading technical publications.
  • Programing using – Feature CAM
  • Assist with making, altering, and repairing gauges, jigs, fixtures, special machines, and other devices.
  • Learn to set up and operate all tool room equipment including Grinder/ Bridgeport and improvise where equipment is limited.
  • Learn to build and repair tools from part prints, 2D electronic prints, 3D CAD detail
  • Use of variety of precision measuring instruments, hand tools, machine shop equipment and mills, lathes, grinders,
  • Follow safety rules and keep work areas in a clean and orderly condition.
  • Program CNC equipment. Ability to generate and edit CAM programs.
  • Complete proper documentation as required
  • Learn the basics of die sharpening
