We are looking for a Tool Design Engineer to work at our Engineered Polymer Products (EPP) division, located in Jacksonville, Florida. You will be supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) and Research and Development (R&D) projects. You will have an opportunity to work hands-on with the fabrication process for new composite & polymer products. You will be part of a team that is developing and manufacturing advanced, high-performance composites in marine applications for surface ships and submarines for the U.S. Navy. Position is onsite at Blount Island in Jacksonville, FL. Requirements

  • Typically requires a degree in Science, Technology, Engineering or Mathematics (STEM) and less than 2 years prior relevant experience
  • Ability to obtain and maintain a U.S. government issued security clearance is required.
  • U.S. citizenship is required, as only U.S. citizens are authorized to access information under this program/contract.
  • Familiarity with CAD software

Nice To Haves

  • Knowledge of composite materials, composite & metal tooling and manufacturing processes.
  • Experience in tool design or related engineering role.
  • Working knowledge SAP
  • SolidWorks or AutoCAD experience

Responsibilities

  • Use computer-aided design (CAD) software such as SolidWorks to create detailed 2D and 3D models and technical drawings for new tools, jigs and fixtures.
  • Prepare comprehensive documentation, including bill of materials (BOMs), cost, assembly instructions and maintenance procedures for tools, jigs and fixtures.
  • Modify existing tooling to boost efficiency, reduce downtime and lower costs.
  • Provide technical support to the shop floor to resolve tooling issues, perform root cause analysis on tool failures and implement design improvements.
  • Ensure all tool designs and processes comply with GD&T and industry standards.
  • Interface with external vendors and suppliers for the procurement and fabrication of tools, ensuring designs meet specifications.
  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams (manufacturing, quality, maintenance, supply chain) to ensure tooling integrates seamlessly into production workflows.
  • Support other engineering projects as needed.
