About The Position

As the Tool Crib Attendant for General Dynamics Mission Systems (GDMS) Precision Structures & Optics (PSO) located in Cullman, AL, you’ll be a member of a cross functional team responsible for managing and issuing tools, equipment, and supplies required for the production process. Duties include inventory records, ensuring tools are in good working condition, and organizing the tool crib for efficient access. The role requires attention to detail, organizational skills, and knowledge of the tools and equipment used in aerospace machining. Our products are used in high performance sensing systems for targeting and acquisition, surveillance, and reconnaissance missions, and are hardened for the battlefield environment.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma or equivalent is required plus a minimum of 6 years of relevant experience
  • Department of Defense Secret security clearance is preferred at time of hire
  • U.S. citizenship is required due to the nature of work performed within our facilities
  • Advanced skills in the Microsoft Office tools
  • Proficient in inventory management software and VMI systems
  • Strong organizational and time management skills
  • Knowledge of safety protocols and standards in the aerospace industry
  • Ability to work under pressure and handle multiple tasks simultaneously

Responsibilities

  • Assembles and organizes tool kits for machinists and technicians, ensuring all necessary tools are available and in good working condition
  • Monitors tool inventory levels, performing regular stock counts, and maintains accurate records of tool usage and availability
  • Coordinates with vendors to manage inventory levels, ensuring timely replenishment of tools and materials
  • Inspects and maintains tools, arranging for repairs or replacements as necessary to ensure optimal performance and safety
  • Identifies process flow improvements and implements
  • Prepares material forecasts as requested
  • Interface periodically with supply chain or suppliers on delivery issues and problem resolution
  • Oversight user of the VMI System
  • Accurately determine min and max quantities required for all tooling (VMI and purchased in stock tools and products)
  • Decision making efforts regarding best tooling at the lowest cost and highest availability by analyzing available data
  • Maintain good working relationships with all vendors who supply the required products for shop floor use
