About The Position

The Journeyman Tool & Die Maker plays a crucial role in Federal Tool and Engineering's operations, ensuring that customer needs are met with precision and quality. This position involves planning and executing complex machine setups and operations to manufacture a variety of tool, die, and fixture components. The successful candidate will work from detailed drawings, specifications, templates, and samples, as well as general verbal instructions, to design, create, and produce the necessary tools and dies. Attention to detail, productivity, and a strong knowledge of machining practices are essential attributes for this role. The Journeyman Tool & Die Maker is expected to take pride in their workmanship, demonstrate integrity, and maintain a high level of productivity throughout their workday. In addition to the technical skills required, the position demands physical stamina, as the individual will need to lift weights ranging from 50 to 75 pounds and stand for extended periods. The role also requires the use of hands for handling and manipulating tools, as well as good vision capabilities, including close, distance, color, peripheral, depth perception, and focus. Regular exposure to moving mechanical parts and moderate noise levels is part of the work environment. Responsibilities may also include troubleshooting metal stamping dies, performing secondary welding, tapping, assembly, and running production jobs on CNC machines, as directed by the production lead.
