About The Position

Learn to Fabricate and/or repair precision carbide and steel tooling (dies, jigs, fixtures, gauges, etc.) for the manufacture of aircraft quality fasteners, utilizing automatic and manual machines, and/or cutting apparatuses, and precision measuring devices.

Requirements

  • Ability to read and interpret documents such as safety rules, operating and maintenance instructions, and procedure manuals.
  • Ability to add, subtract, multiply, and divide in all units of measure, using whole numbers, common fractions, and decimals. Ability to compute rate, ratio, and percent. Ability to apply basic concepts of algebra and geometry.
  • Ability to solve practical problems and deal with a variety of concrete variables in situations where only limited standardization exists. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written, oral, diagram, or schedule form.
  • High school diploma or general education degree (GED). A minimum of 0–1 year experience in fabricating aircraft quality fastener tooling; or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Responsibilities

  • Studies specifications such as blueprints, sketches, models, or descriptions to determine materials and machines required to fabricate part.
  • Learn to compute dimensions, plans layout, and determines assembly method and sequence of operations.
  • Learn to measure, make, and scribes metal stock for machining.
  • Learn to set up and operate equipment such as lathe, milling machine, and grinder to machine parts, and verifies conformance of machined parts to specifications.
  • Learn to heat treat tools and/or parts.
  • Learn to examine standard to previously used dies, tools, jigs and fixtures, and recommends design modification regarding construction and function of part.
  • Meets and maintains productivity levels and quality requirements in support of departmental standards, goals and schedules.
  • Performs record keeping, housekeeping, and follows safety regulations.
  • Other duties as assigned
