Requirements

  • High School diploma or equivalent and 6 years additional education OR Bachelor's Degree with 2 years experience.
  • Must have 3 years experience with working with tool and die makers.
  • Must be able to understand technical drawings, specifications, and CAD/CAM files.
  • Ability to obtain and/or transfer and maintain the final adjudicated government Secret clearance.
  • Must be a US Citizen.
  • Must complete a pre-employment medical examination.

Responsibilities

  • Lays out, fabricates, and assembles metalworking dies, molds, and machine tool fixtures by analyzing blueprints, sketches, models, and engineering or shop specifications.
  • Uses a variety of machinist hand tools and precision measuring instruments.
  • Computes dimensions; determines machining and material or parts required.
  • Performs precision work to exacting tolerances and dimensions.
  • Recommends revisions in design and/or substitutions in material based on machinability or fabrication problems encountered.
  • Solves problems relating to unusual materials, work-holding arrangements, machine settings, fabrication methods, and production process.
  • May monitor and verify quality in accordance with statistical process or other control procedures.
