About The Position

About HPF: Houston Precision Fasteners produces high strength, close tolerance, fatigue rated fasteners using materials such as alloy steel, 718, titanium, waspaloy, A-286 and multiphase. Our fasteners support most current space programs as well as our nations fleet of military aircraft and weapon systems. Job purpose: To set up and operate major machining equipment including drills, conventional mill, conventional lathe and surface grinder, OD grinder, honing machine and CNC equipment to create manufacturing tools from blank stock. Requirements

  • 4-6 years related experience of related experience desired
  • Experience supporting forge operations preferred
  • HS diploma or equivalent or equivalent combination of experience/education
  • A candidate must have a desire to continually learn and develop technical skills.
  • Intermediate knowledge of machines and tools, including their designs, uses, repair, and maintenance
  • Knowledge of design techniques, tools, and principals involved in production of precision technical plans, blueprints, drawings, and models
  • Must be able to bend, stoop, kneel, and stand for prolonged periods of time, climb steps, and ladders
  • Must be able to work at heights utilizing fall protection equipment (man lifts, ladders, and stand)
  • Must be able to lift up to 45lbs
  • Must have vision or corrected vision equal to 20-20
  • Must have an attention to detail and desire to produce extremely high-quality work
  • Subject to environmental conditions -protection from weather conditions but not necessarily from temperature changes
  • Subject to hazards to include a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, exposure to high heat or exposure to chemicals
  • Subject to loud constant noise
  • Subject to atmospheric conditions such as fumes, odors, dust, mists, gases, or poor ventilation

Responsibilities

  • Set up and operate conventional or computer numerically controlled machine tools such as lathes, milling machines, or grinders to cut, bore, grind, or otherwise shape parts to prescribed dimensions and finishes
  • Verify dimensions, alignments, and clearances of finished parts for conformance to specifications, using precision measuring instruments (including micrometers, calipers and gauges)
  • Study blueprints, sketches, models, or specifications to plan sequences of operations for fabricating tools, dies, or assemblies
  • Visualize and compute dimensions, sizes, shapes, and tolerances of assemblies, based on specifications
  • Inspect finished dies for accuracy and conformance to specifications
  • Enter commands, instructions, or specifications into equipment
  • Complete all set-ups independently
