AtkinsRéalis is seeking Tolling Systems Intern to join our Richmond, VA (client site) office. AtkinsRéalis is a world-class engineering services and nuclear organization. Our Internship Program, Explore, is designed for college students pursuing a degree in a STEM field and provides opportunities to learn what it’s like to work in a professional environment and apply what’s learned in class to the real-world challenges we face every day.

  • Preventive Maintenance - Regular, scheduled physical inspections and system checks at each toll system location (electrical, mechanical, and structural systems).
  • Response to Alarms and alerts - Alarm classification, revenue impact assessment, repair, and remediation.
  • Reporting dashboards - provide monthly summaries of maintenance activities and outcomes (completed repairs, issues to address, dashboard updates).
  • Meeting prep and action items – active involvement in regular maintenance planning and review meetings (prepare reports, highlight impacts on revenue, maintain and distribute action items).
  • Document Management – Management all documents (Return Merchandise Authorizations, Spare parts inventory, change orders, system updates and changes).
  • No experience is generally required if accepted into an Associate's or Bachelor's degree program in a related technical field at Howard University.
  • Must have completed 80 hours towards a related degree from Howard University by the start of the internship (Spring 2026).
  • Basic computer skills required to enter data into spreadsheets or databases.
