About The Position

The Toll Collector position at Cameron County involves clerical work supporting bridge operations and financial functions. Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Two years of experience in cash handling and/or fiscal control work.
• Equivalent combination of education, training, and experience that provides requisite knowledge, skills, and abilities.

Responsibilities

• Collect toll fees for motor vehicles and pedestrians crossing into Mexico.
• Classify vehicles according to toll classification and collect appropriate toll amounts.
• Utilize computerized toll recording equipment for collections.
• Greet customers in a friendly and courteous manner.
• Count cash received during the tour of duty and prepare reports of cash receipts.
• Perform security guard duties for personnel and facilities of the County's International Bridge System.
• Assist vault personnel with coin and cash counts.
• Direct and coordinate traffic approaching the Toll Booth area.
• Provide assistance and information regarding assigned bridge functions to various stakeholders.
• Explain policies and procedures related to toll collection.
