Job Description: Provide a safe, nurturing and responsive environment that stimulates the social, emotional, physical, and cognitive development of infants and toddlers. Develop individual goals for infants and toddlers, document ongoing assessment of progress and facilitate transition. Develop lesson plans and activities that are aligned with the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards. Follow a consistent schedule, which includes small and large motor activities, skill development, meals, and effective transitions between activities. Provide high-quality interactions that maximize child development and involvement. Actively supervise infants and toddlers at all times and always maintain the appropriate staff –to- child ratio, whether with an infant group, toddler group, or mixed age group. Communicate daily with parents regarding the milestones and activities of their child. Detect and report signs of illness, discomfort and unusual behavior of children. Report any safety hazards observed indoors or outdoors. Use data from CLASS, Teaching Strategies GOLD, and the Louisiana Birth-to-Five Early Learning Standards to guide ongoing high-quality interactions with infants and toddlers. Communicate transparently with the Center Director and Assistant Director/Instructional Coach regarding parent communication, children’s growth and development and updates on licensing documentation (i.e. externally approved clock hours, paperwork for physical exams, TB, etc). Participate in monthly staff meetings. Ensure that personal care needs are met for all infants and toddlers (i.e. feeding, diapering, toileting, rest, etc). Other duties, as assigned by Center Director or Assistant Director/Instructional Coach.
