About The Position

Toddler Teacher for Needham Public Schools, NCE Early Childcare Program: The home of The Little Rockets! Needham Public Schools is an inclusive, dynamic, and multicultural community seeking an energetic, skilled, and warm Toddler Teacher for our Early Childcare Program . To enhance our goals of supporting every child, Needham Public Schools seeks candidates with diverse backgrounds and experiences. Job Summary: The Teacher will provide social, emotional and behavioral support for toddlers and through the curriculum they create, based on developmentally appropriate practices. They shall be responsible for supervising Instructional Assistants and coordinating, and implementing, the direct care of children. The Teacher will work collaboratively to create and maintain the classroom spaces, and learning environments, in accordance with EEC and DESE rules, regulations and guidelines.

Requirements

  • Infant / Toddler Teacher Qualifications Certification from EEC
  • Ability to be flexible in order to adjust to the changing energy and circumstances of the children/classroom
  • Ability to make decisions in the moment to ensure the safety of all students
  • Willingness to take direction from, and share expertise with, coworkers and the Director.
  • Effective written and verbal communication skills and good interpersonal skills in order to interact with both staff, children and parents/guardians.
  • Willingness to participate in 20 hours of Professional Development training each year, in addition to scheduled work hours, as required by EEC regulations.
  • Must be able to lift 35 lbs. and have the ability to interact with children in active situations.
  • Regular sitting, including sitting on the floor, kneeling, standing, walking, pushing a stroller, and carrying children is required.
  • Will be working indoors and outdoors.
  • Take delight in the laughter, silliness, and fun of children 3 months – 5 years!

Nice To Haves

  • Advanced degree with 1-3+ years of related experience is preferred.
  • A highly motivated self-starter who can work both independently and collaboratively
