About The Position

The Toddler Teacher Assistant will take direction from the Lead Toddler Teacher in preparation and maintenance of the Montessori environment for students 18 months to 3 years old. This includes organizing and maintaining classroom materials, assisting in the breakfast and lunch program, the set-up and clean-up of the classroom, and other duties as assigned by the teacher.

Requirements

  • High School diploma
  • Associates degree in Early Childhood or a Child Development Associate certification or willingness to obtain
  • Experience working with young children, Montessori experience a plus
  • Knowledge of or willingness to learn class management skills
  • Ability to take direction from lead teacher
  • Excellent planning and organizational skills

Responsibilities

  • Support and follow directives of Lead Toddler Teacher
  • Organize materials, making sure they are complete and ready for use
  • Prepare and clean classroom before and after class
  • Help with the maintenance of accurate classroom records
  • Respect confidentiality of information pertaining to children, families, and/or staff
  • Model integrity, responsibility, and respect for all persons as well as an appreciation for ethnic, cultural, and gender issues and diversity
  • Share responsibility with lead teacher for the safety and physical well-being of the children at all times
  • Maintain and foster a positive relationship with children and other staff
  • Work with individuals and groups of children as directed by the Lead Toddler Teacher
  • Other duties as assigned
