About The Position

The Learning Experience – Upper West Side is seeking a qualified Toddler Lead Teacher to lead a 2-year-old classroom. This role is ideal for an experienced early childhood educator who excels at creating structured routines, fostering independence, and supporting toddlers’ social, emotional, and language development in a play-based learning environment. Our toddler program emphasizes consistency, positive guidance, and hands-on experiences that help children feel secure, confident, and excited to learn.

Requirements

Bachelor’s degree in Early Childhood Education or higher required
Experience leading a toddler classroom in a licensed early childhood setting
Strong understanding of developmentally appropriate practices
Professional, organized, and team-oriented
Ability to meet all NYC childcare licensing and background requirements

Nice To Haves

CPR and First Aid certification preferred or willingness to obtain

Responsibilities

Lead a toddler classroom in a safe, nurturing, and developmentally appropriate environment
Implement daily lessons aligned with The Learning Experience L.E.A.P. Curriculum
Support early language development, movement, creativity, and exploration
Maintain consistent routines including meals, toileting, transitions, and rest time
Supervise and guide assistant teachers to ensure classroom quality and consistency
Observe and document developmental progress and classroom outcomes
Build strong relationships with families through daily communication
Maintain compliance with New York City Department of Health licensing requirements and center policies
