Requirements

  • Minimum of 9 college credits in Early Childhood Education (required for NYS OCFS Group Teacher qualification)
  • 2+ years of experience working with toddlers in a licensed childcare or early education setting
  • Strong understanding of toddler development and classroom management
  • A calm, patient, and nurturing approach
  • CPR/First Aid certification (or willingness to obtain)
  • Willingness to complete all OCFS required trainings

Nice To Haves

  • Associate's or Bachelor's Degree in Early Childhood Education preferred

Responsibilities

  • Create and maintain a safe, nurturing, and engaging toddler classroom (ages ~18–36 months)
  • Plan and implement play-based, developmentally appropriate curriculum aligned with NYS standards
  • Support social-emotional development, language growth, and independence
  • Guide daily routines, transitions, and positive behavior support
  • Lead and mentor assistant teachers with kindness and clarity
  • Build strong, trusting relationships with families through daily communication
  • Maintain compliance with NYS OCFS regulations and center policies
