About The Position

The Jet Propulsion Laboratory in Pasadena, California, invites applications for a newly created research position in the Small Bodies Group. The successful candidate will demonstrate expertise in remote sensing, specifically in the remote sensing of planetary objects and rings using ultraviolet spectrometry. The candidate will be expected to participate in scientific activities on NASA’s Europa Clipper mission and maintain a close relationship with the PI of the Europa Ultraviolet Spectrograph based at the Southwest Research Institute in San Antonio. The candidate will also be expected to participate in the development and capture of future NASA mission and instrument opportunities. Applicants should have a strong record in mission operations and UV spectrometry and mission formulation and development. It is expected that the successful candidate will develop an independently funded research program and regularly publish peer-reviewed research papers. The candidate will help to manage JPL’s portfolio of externally funded research. Opportunities exist for participation in ongoing and future space missions.
