ABOUT THE TANGLEWOOD MUSIC CENTER Since its founding in 1940 with the mission of providing a “unique opportunity for a summer of living and working in music” the Tanglewood Music Center has been the premiere summer music festival for young musicians in the United States. Around 130 TMC Fellows attend the TMC each summer to focus on their studies in six programs: Composition, Conducting, Instrumental, Library, Piano, and Vocal Arts. TMC Fellows reside on the campus of Miss Hall’s School in Pittsfield, MA and engage in daily rehearsals, classes, and performances on the Tanglewood campus in nearby Lenox. The TMC’s faculty and guest artists are world-class and nonpareil; a summer at TMC is seen by many as the final link between a first-rate musical education and a full-time professional career. ABOUT THE ROLE Join the staff of one of the world’s most prestigious music festivals as the TMC Administrative Assistant and Copland Librarian! This role is the central point of contact for the Tanglewood Music Center (TMC) office, managing daily administrative, logistical, and financial matters. This role serves as the "first line" of TMC response in addressing routine questions and keeping track of day-to-day business issues. Additionally, as the Copland Librarian, you will also distribute, coordinate, and collect chamber music for TMC Fellows and Faculty throughout the summer. This is a perfect position for an aspiring arts administrator (especially with an interest in instrumental chamber music) at the beginning of their career or an experienced orchestral musician dipping a first toe in the administrative world. Bring your love of music, customer service, and administrative skills to help build another successful Tanglewood season while strengthening your resume for the future.
