About The Position

The Senior Juvenile Correctional Officer V - Campus Shift Administrator is responsible for overseeing correctional staff and ensuring the safety and security of youth in a residential correctional facility. This role involves facilitating youth rehabilitation, supervising daily operations, and coaching staff in appropriate intervention methods. The position requires a strong focus on maintaining a structured environment while addressing the complex needs of youth, particularly those with trauma backgrounds.

Requirements

  • Must be at least 21 years of age.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Two years of full-time experience supervising or providing rehabilitation/treatment services to youth or adults in a treatment or correctional program.

Responsibilities

  • Oversee campus movement and coordination between activities, ensuring safety of staff and youth during shifts.
  • Respond to incidents using appropriate intervention methods to aid in learning and behavior correction.
  • Prepare serious incident reports and collaborate with the Serious Incident Administrator.
  • Monitor facility for access to means that assist in suicidal behavior and conduct suicide assessments.
  • Collaborate with the Regulation Safety Team to maintain physical security and compliance with procedures.
  • Engage in competency-based training and coach other JCOs in trauma-informed corrections techniques.
  • Hold youth accountable for their behavior and help them learn socially acceptable responses.
  • Model self-regulation skills and assist other JCOs in developing their own skills.
  • Gain knowledge of each youth's treatment plan and support their goals.
  • Participate in the Youth Service Team and provide input into treatment plans.
  • Implement and monitor youth activities and programs to ensure healthy engagement.
  • Conduct searches for contraband and health/safety hazards, and perform necessary searches of youth.
  • Supervise youth during daily activities and manage movements between activities.
  • Respond to youth grievances and maintain privacy regarding youth records.
  • Complete and maintain required records and documentation in a timely manner.
