About The Position
The Youth Crisis Outreach Team (YCOT) Specialist plays a crucial role in the North Texas Behavioral Health Authority (NTBHA) by providing immediate support to children and youth, along with their caregivers and families, who are experiencing crisis situations. This position is dedicated to implementing the YCOT program, which focuses on crisis intervention, screening, referral, relapse prevention, and follow-up/case monitoring services for children and youth within NTBHA's service area. The YCOT Specialist is responsible for delivering trauma-informed interventions and crisis resolution strategies to ensure the mental health stability and well-being of the individuals served. The YCOT operates 24/7, and the specialist must be prepared to work on a rotating schedule that includes evenings, weekends, and holidays. The role requires developing and maintaining professional relationships with clients, their families, and various service providers to address medical, social, educational, and psychiatric needs, ultimately aiming to reduce the crisis experiences of clients. The specialist will conduct on-site and off-site assessments, provide urgent crisis intervention, and collaborate with other crisis response teams to facilitate stabilization in the least restrictive environment. In addition to direct crisis intervention, the YCOT Specialist will implement relapse prevention and safety planning strategies, ensuring ongoing communication and support for families for up to 90 days post-crisis. This position requires adherence to NTBHA's values, goals, and regulatory standards, including thorough documentation of all service delivery and interventions. The specialist will also engage in continuous professional development and may seek clinical consultation as needed to enhance service delivery.
