About The Position

Cox Automotive is seeking a Specialist II in Vehicle Operations to process and reassign titles for vehicles sold by the auction. The role involves examining vehicle titles for accuracy, verifying acceptance in the relevant state, and confirming details such as VIN numbers and odometer readings. The Specialist will also determine the negotiability of title documents, report discrepancies, and resolve titling issues through customer and dealer interactions. The position requires maintaining knowledge of DMV laws and providing quality customer service through various communication channels. Additional responsibilities include data entry, running reports, assisting with audits, and participating in safety activities.

Requirements

  • High School Diploma/GED and 3 years' experience in a related field, or a different combination of education and experience.
  • Must obtain notary within first 60 days of employment if not currently a notary.
  • Strong interpersonal and customer service skills.
  • Effective communication skills.
  • Good problem-solving and organizational skills.
  • Basic computer software skills.
  • Vision abilities required include close, distance and depth perception.

Responsibilities

  • Process and reassign titles for vehicles sold by the auction.
  • Examine vehicle title for accuracy and conformity to specified requirements.
  • Verify acceptance of the title in the state for which it is filed.
  • Confirm accurate title VIN number, odometer reading, release of liens, and that titles contain no alteration.
  • Determine negotiability of title document and assess for potential fraud.
  • Report any title discrepancies.
  • Resolve titling issues through interaction with customers, dealers, and regulatory agencies.
  • Work with manager/supervisor to negotiate price adjustment between buyer and seller for a title problem.
  • Maintain knowledge of current DMV laws and regulations as they relate to vehicle titles.
  • Provide quality, efficient customer service through face to face, e-mail, and phone support.
  • Perform basic data entry into the AS400 computer system and other applications.
  • Contact clients weekly for updates on outstanding vehicle titles.
  • Run, sort, and audit miscellaneous reports for title inventory and payment information.
  • Assist with title audits.
  • Take client phone calls in relation to front office issues.
  • Demonstrate safety commitment by following all safety and health procedures.
  • Perform other duties as assigned by management.
  • May be required to work overtime as business needs dictate.
