The Title IX Coordinator at SUNY Fredonia plays a crucial role in ensuring compliance with various federal and state regulations, including Title VI, Title VII, Title IX, VAWA, and the Clery Act, as well as Section 129B of the NYS Education Law. This position is responsible for overseeing all related investigations and reporting, contributing to the overall health of the campus community. The Coordinator works closely with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion and university leadership to fulfill legal obligations while proactively enhancing an environment that fosters personal, professional, and academic success for all members of the university community. The role also involves collaboration with external community members, including local law enforcement and advocacy agencies, to ensure a comprehensive approach to Title IX compliance and support. In this full-time position, the Title IX Coordinator will supervise one part-time employee, the Harassment and Discrimination Investigator & Compliance Officer. The Coordinator is expected to be accessible outside of normal business hours, serving as a first point of contact for incidents. Key responsibilities include conducting timely and confidential investigations into allegations of Title IX violations and discrimination against protected classes, managing caseloads, maintaining detailed records, and providing clear reports on findings. The Coordinator will also work collaboratively with various university divisions to disseminate information regarding rights and available courses of action for students and employees affected by discrimination. The Title IX Coordinator is expected to apply best practices related to higher education laws and policies, participate in committees, conduct campus-wide surveys, and analyze data to assess the rates and trends of sexual or gender misconduct. This position requires a commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion, partnering with the Office of Diversity, Equity, and Inclusion to develop and implement programs and training related to Title IX and discrimination.
