About The Position

The Title IX Coordinator at the University of Connecticut is responsible for overseeing the university's compliance with Title IX and related laws, ensuring a safe and equitable environment free from sex-based discrimination and harassment. This role involves leading initiatives for prevention, education, and response to Title IX matters across the university system, including the Storrs campus and regional campuses. The coordinator will manage reports of discrimination, supervise compliance personnel, and collaborate with various university stakeholders to promote awareness and compliance with Title IX regulations.

Requirements

  • J.D. or graduate degree in a related field, or significant professional experience in a Title IX role.
  • Three years of experience in a Title IX program or related field at an institution of higher education.
  • In-depth knowledge of key legislation and regulations related to Title IX.
  • Excellent writing and communication skills.
  • Experience creating and delivering Title IX-related training or educational programs.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, and PowerPoint.

Responsibilities

  • Coordinate the University's response, prevention, and education initiatives pursuant to federal Title IX law and related laws.
  • Lead system-wide compliance efforts to maintain a campus environment free from sex-based discrimination and sexual misconduct.
  • Oversee the intake of all reports of sex-based discrimination, including sexual harassment and assault.
  • Ensure appropriate action in response to all reports of discrimination and misconduct.
  • Track report data, analyze patterns, and evaluate the scope of Title IX concerns.
  • Supervise Title IX compliance personnel, including professional staff and a graduate assistant.
  • Develop and implement strategic plans to advance Title IX priorities system-wide.
  • Provide Title IX compliance leadership and consultation to the University and stakeholders.
  • Investigate Title IX-related matters and prepare documentation and reports.
  • Monitor and evaluate existing programs and policies for compliance with laws.
  • Provide guidance on Title IX investigations and procedures to various university offices.
  • Manage Title IX campus climate survey administration and identify programmatic recommendations.
  • Prepare statistical and demographic data related to Title IX complaints for reports and publications.
  • Oversee Title IX educational trainings and initiatives for university personnel.
  • Present educational sessions on sex-based discrimination and prevention.
  • Conduct climate checks for student groups and prepare findings for stakeholders.
  • Create and maintain Title IX materials, including the university's Title IX website and brochures.
  • Manage internal procedures and maintain case files in the case management system.
  • Collaborate with University Communications for accurate responses to media inquiries.
  • Chair the University's Community Resource Teams and participate in committees and task forces.
  • Research grant opportunities related to Title IX and collaborate on proposals.
  • Perform other position-related duties as assigned.
