Position Summary: Seeking a highly motivated and detail-oriented Title Examiner to join our team. The person selected to fill this role will have experience in all facets of title exam. The examiner will examine title records provided by the searcher and analyze property history, chain of title, legal descriptions, foreclosures, bankruptcy, mortgages, liens, judgments, easements, and contracts.

Requirements

  • Experience in REO, Foreclosure, and bankruptcies is required.
  • Strong knowledge of state-by-state title and underwriter exam guidelines
  • High competency in reviewing complex issues.
  • Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Comfort level with real estate databases and county search websites.
  • Ability to communicate and interact effectively with all levels of associates and management, as well as with the public and outside vendors and investors
  • Superb organizational, follow-up and time-management skills
  • 5+ years experience in title examination.
  • National exam experience is a must.
  • Familiarity with REO, foreclosure, and bankruptcy processes.
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite (Word, Excel, Outlook).

Nice To Haves

  • Title Exam certification is a plus but not required.
  • Resware experience a plus
  • Black Knight experience a plus
  • Experience with title management systems and real estate data

Responsibilities

  • Review plat maps and other legal documents to find encumbrances or inconsistencies.
  • Prepare title commitments summarizing findings.
  • Identify and resolve title defects based on state and underwriter requirements.
  • Communicate and work with underwriters for complex issues.
  • Timely completion of all required work functions including task queue, updating, follow-up, etc.
  • Demonstrated ability to work under time sensitive deadlines.
  • Completion of all required reports and/or specifically assigned functions in an efficient and timely manner.
  • Additional duties as assigned
