About The Position

The Title 1 Paraeducator position at Amherst Street Elementary School is designed to support students in various educational settings. The role involves assisting classroom teachers in implementing and reinforcing the instructional curriculum, preparing and administering tests, and providing feedback on student performance. Paraeducators may work in different capacities, including instructional support for Title 1, Kindergarten, ELL, and Special Education students, as well as in pre-school and technical roles. Responsibilities may include assisting with IEP goals, fostering independence in students, and addressing their physical and health needs.

Requirements

• High School Diploma or GED.
• Highly Qualified Status for Title 1 Schools, which includes either an Associate's Degree or equivalent two years of college, Bachelor's degree, or Paraeducator II certification from the NH Dept of Education.

Responsibilities

• Assist in the implementation and reinforcement of the instructional curriculum under the direction of the classroom teacher.
• Help prepare and administer testing.
• Provide input to teachers, guidance counselors, and school administration regarding student performance.
• Plan and implement developmentally appropriate curriculum for assigned age groups in pre-school settings.
• Assist with day-to-day operations of assigned programs using materials and technology.
• Support the implementation of IEP goals and objectives for special education students.
• Assist with the physical and minimal health needs of children, including lifting, feeding, toileting/diapering, and personal hygiene.
