About The Position

The primary objective of the Tissue Processing Technician 2 role is to handle, process and assemble a variety of tissue products, meeting quality, efficiency, and productivity goals. As a Tissue Processing Technician II, the technician should know and consistently apply an understanding of basic anatomy and be able to inspect and identify possible defects in highly variable biologic material, assessing usability based on an increasing understanding of end user interaction with the products. Level II Technicians are expected to possess job specific skills (suturing, use of surgical instruments, surgical knot tying, cutting, sizing assessment) and assembly skills. Tissue Tech 2s are also expected to achieve certification in mid- range difficulty finished good assembly builds and begin to cross-train into high difficulty assemblies by meeting time and quality standards, as well as taking an active role in Continuous Improvement initiatives and exemplify Intuitive Individual Expectations. This role works closely with fellow team members, leads and production leadership to achieve individual and team performance goals.

Requirements

  • Ability to perform the following with limited guidance, increasing autonomy: suturing, vessel ligation, knot tying, instrument adhesion of membranes, adhesion of tissues to plates, application of measurement methods, proper use of surgical tools, tissue plane dissection, handle tissue without introducing accidental damage.
  • Possesses knowledge and demonstrates application of surgical tools, type and intended use with limited guidance.
  • Ability to read, write and understand English.
  • Ability to follow written instructions and documented processes with minimal guidance.
  • Demonstrates commitment to working in a team environment, regularly demonstrates effective communication practices.
  • Ability to use computers as part of daily work, navigating to work instructions (Agile), demonstrated ability to accurately use time tracker system with minimal guidance.
  • Consistently demonstrates ability to report quality issues, consistently showcases ability to suggest simple process improvements with minimal guidance
  • High school diploma or equivalent
  • Experience using computer systems at basic level required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Zoom)
  • Experience using computer systems for viewing controlled content, logging time, ERP system applications required.
  • Ability to lift and carry up to 20 lbs.

Nice To Haves

  • Associate Degree preferred; Relevant coursework preferred
  • Experience using computer systems at basic level required (Outlook, Word, Excel, Zoom)
  • Minimum experience: Certification to 4 assemblies or processes or comparable experience equivalent to 1 year.
  • Experience handling tissue or biologic specimens preferred
  • Animal Sciences degree/knowledge of anatomy & physiology preferred
  • Experience in a manufacturing environment preferred
  • Experience using computer applications preferred
  • On the job training provided for candidates who show aptitude in the absence of the preferred backgrounds

Responsibilities

  • Assemble a variety of tissue products according to standard instructions and prints
  • Gain proficient understanding and aptitude at multiple assembly tasks while meeting requirements for workmanship, quality, safety and productivity.
  • Expected to possess and consistently demonstrate the following skills: suturing, use of proper surgical instruments, surgical knot tying, proper use of adhesives.
  • Expected to know and consistently apply understanding of basic anatomy.
  • Operate and set up (as needed) production supplies/equipment.
  • Demonstrate understanding of business systems by proper and routine use (Agile, SAP, etc.)
  • Perform inspection and/or simple/intermediate repairs on own work and others' work.
  • Maintain hygienic workspace and follow Line Clearance procedures.
  • Follow Tissue Handling & Storage requirements Adhere to PPE policy – safety goggle, cut resistant gloves, etc.
  • Assemble a variety of tissue products according to standard instructions and prints
