About The Position
Versiti, Inc. is seeking a dedicated Tissue Donation Specialist (TDS) to join our team in Milwaukee, WI. This full-time position is crucial in facilitating the tissue donation process, ensuring that high-quality and safe allograft tissues are available for transplant. The TDS will work under the direction of the Supervisor and will be responsible for screening potential tissue donor referrals from hospitals and other agencies throughout Wisconsin. This role is not only about processing donations but also about making a significant impact on the lives of patients and their families during a critical time. The TDS will evaluate potential tissue donors through comprehensive medical chart reviews, staff interviews, and medical examiner/coroner reports, adhering to predefined criteria. This position requires the ability to present tissue donor information to affiliated tissue processing and research agencies, as well as obtaining legal informed authorization for tissue donation. A thorough medical and behavioral health history on potential tissue donors must be collected, ensuring that all communication protocols are followed to maintain effective interactions with stakeholders, including Eye Banks, Funeral Homes, Medical Examiners, and Hospital Staff. In addition to the core responsibilities, the TDS will maintain meticulous records of all tissue referrals and donors, ensuring that all necessary information is shared with eye banks and tissue processing facilities. The role also involves coordinating and participating in various donation-related community activities and events, contributing to the organization's outreach and education efforts. Continuous professional development is encouraged, and the TDS will participate in mandatory and job-related educational opportunities to maintain competence in the field.
