The University of Miami/UHealth department of Neurology has an exciting opportunity for a Full Time TEMPORARY/Per Diem, Tissue Bank Technician to work at UHealth medical campus. The Tissue Technician supports the Brain Bank’s Post Mortem Team in the recovery of tissues for research. Responsible for complying with all quality assurance requirements of the Brain Bank as mandated in its protocols, best practices guidelines, and biorepository industry standards. Required to take Recovery on-call duties, on a rotating basis, as assigned by Management. Pre-case preparation of recovery and processing areas following pertinent SOPs and protocols, to include all equipment and supplies Recovery of brain tissue and associated tissue samples in the manner outlined in all pertinent SOPs and protocols Responsible for the post-recovery/post-processing clean up and disinfection of the recovery/processing area and equipment Responsible for completion of required case paperwork Familiarity and knowledge of information contained in the Brain Bank SOPs Remain current on all UM mandatory training as well as departmental training Attend all required departmental meetings, conferences and training groups Will be required to perform any other task or function within the department on an as-needed or emergency basis, and as assigned by Management.   • Support the Brain Bank’s Post Mortem Team in the recovery of tissues for research.
  • Comply with all quality assurance requirements of the Brain Bank as mandated in its protocols.
  • Take Recovery on-call duties on a rotating basis as assigned by Management.
  • Prepare recovery and processing areas following pertinent SOPs and protocols.
  • Recover brain tissue and associated tissue samples as outlined in SOPs and protocols.
  • Clean up and disinfect the recovery/processing area and equipment post-recovery.
  • Complete required case paperwork.
  • Stay current on all UM mandatory training and departmental training.
  • Attend all required departmental meetings, conferences, and training groups.
  • Perform any other task or function within the department as needed or assigned by Management.
  • High school diploma or equivalent.
  • Minimum 1 year of relevant experience.
  • Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
  • Ability to analyze, organize and prioritize work under pressure while meeting deadlines.
  • Ability to process and handle confidential information with discretion.
  • Ability to work evenings, nights, and weekends as necessary.
