The primary purpose of this position is to enable students in the assigned area to pursue their education as smoothly and completely as possible in the absence of the regular teacher. The substitute teacher is responsible for maintaining the established routines and procedures of the school and classroom, supervising lessons as outlined in the Substitute Teacher's Guide, and consulting with the building principal regarding any teaching procedures not specified in the regular teacher's plans. The role requires effective communication and interpersonal skills to maintain positive relationships with students, supervisors, and colleagues.
