About The Position

The Department of Social Services (DSS) is comprised of the administrative units of the New York City Human Resources Administration (HRA) and the Department of Homeless Services (DHS). HRA is dedicated to fighting poverty and income inequality by providing New Yorkers in need with essential benefits such as Food Assistance and Emergency Rental Assistance. DHS is committed to preventing and addressing homelessness in New York City by employing a variety of innovative strategies to help families and individuals successfully exit shelter and return to self-sufficiency as quickly as possible. Human Resources Solutions (HRS) supports the human resources needs of the Department of Social Services, the Human Resources Administration, and the Department of Homeless Services through strategic partnership and collaboration, with the goal of creating an inclusive, motivated, and client centered workforce. Human Resources Solutions (HRS) is recruiting for two (2) Clerical Associate IVs to function as Timekeepers, who will be responsible for verifying changes in assigned work units, reviewing Citytime reports, processing employee leave balances, interacting with other divisions, preparing hold lists for paychecks, and preparing supplementary paychecks during the assigned window of pay week.

Requirements

  • A four-year high school diploma or its educational equivalent approved by a State's department of education or a recognized accrediting organization.
  • One year of satisfactory clerical experience.
  • Keyboard familiarity with the ability to type at a minimum of 100 key strokes (20 words) per minute.

Responsibilities

  • Verify all changes in assigned work units, such as leave status, via collateral telephone calls to the unit's timekeeping/personnel liaison processing these changes.
  • Review all Citytime reports such as the daily Transmitted report, daily Not Transmitted reports, Late Overtime and Leave Approvals report and the Leave Without Pay report.
  • Review and verify the accuracy of employee leave balances via PMS and RMDS report.
  • Review the previous day's entries via accepted on-line reports that display all accepted or rejected as well as suspended details.
  • Interact daily with designated representatives from other Office of Staff Resources divisions to accurately process long term leaves.
  • Prepare hold lists for the cycle's paychecks for employees with incomplete records.
  • Prepare supplementary (adjusted) paychecks on the Agency's supplementary payroll during the assigned window of Monday through Wednesday of pay week.
